Suncity management to cut pay by half – Media

The management executives of Suncity, one of the city’s largest junket operators, have volunteered to cut their salaries by half for two months amid the market turmoil triggered by the novel coronavirus, Allinmedia reported.

The gaming news portal said all the executives at the position of deputy director or above will take pay cuts because the global pandemic has caused “disastrous impact” upon the Macau junket sector.

Macau’s gaming revenue plunged over 87 per cent in February while the visitors to the gambling enclave also collapsed by close to 96 per cent in the same month, as the virus outbreak has forced the authorities across the globe to implement border and travel restrictions.

Allinmedia also noted that Suncity has reached consensus with its low-level staff that the latter will take leave for 15 days each month in April and May in a bid to help reduce the operating cost of the junket operator. But the report didn’t specify the employees will take paid leave or unpaid leave.
