The Sound of Music

Without music the festive season would mean a lot less than it does now. How could we celebrate all of the season’s spirit without Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker? One needs not to think about it because, this December, music will definitely be in the air at the Spectacle MGM COTAI. The Christmas Delight Concert with the Macau Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Francis Kan will ensure the magic of the season will soar. The orchestra will play alongside Sea Odyssey in the impressive Saint-Saëns:“Aquarium” from The Carnival of the Animals, ensuring a magical experience to all who join them.

The ensemble will also  be preforming timeless classics such as Coleridge-Taylor’s Christmas Overture, some of the most famous The Nutcracker excerpts and jolly-old carols such as Jingle Bells . Visitors of all ages can enjoy the magic on December 18 & 19 by 19:00.

To be fair, a party is a party when there is great music and a great band. That is why it will be difficult to beat MGM’s evenings. From December 20 to 27, starting at 19:15, the band By ARI & The Party Animals will be performing pop-rock Holiday classics. Just before dinner, guests and visitors can enjoy some of the world’s most famous songs, played live.

Stories and Dances

Children are, as always, the raison d’être of the season, instilling culture and the arts is something dear to the brand, which consistently tries to reach the younger generation through cultural initiatives. The Spectacle at MGM COTAI, will also be the stage for the little ones. A local school choir consisting of students will sing Christmas Carols at the venue. Not only will the group to fill the air with a festive atmosphere but It also help to draw the children’s family closer for an extended experience, so appropriate this time of the year.

The other event is a true Christmas spectacle would not be completed without dancing, especially for the lovers of The Nutcracker Ballet. Also performed by Macau Children Arts Troupe, some of the world’s most renown Christmas-inspired ballet pieces will be represented on December 20, 24, 25, 26 always at 15:15. The costumes were designed in great detail, promising the public an immersive experience like no other.

Besides participating in the shows, there is no reason why children should not enjoy the best performances in town!  On December 24 and 25, right at the Grande Praça, MGM MACAU the little ones are invited to dive into a world of imagination and creativity. A 40-mins storytelling puppet show, drawing on Sino-Portuguese experiences, will offer not only entertainment and cheer, but also culture, acceptance and growth. Visitors will have the chance to see the show twice at with one session starting at 15:15 and the second at 17:15.

Make a little Magic

The holidays are meant to be an immersive, participative experience. Although few things can lift the mood like a good song and a great show, learning a new skill can be just as exhilarating. Those who are more “hands-on” will probably be delighted to learn that there are an array of workshops one can sign on to.

Be it to prepare a home-made gift or simply to spend the time, everyone can enjoy learning how to make a Pinecone Christmas Tree, create a unique Christmas-themed floral bouquet with the Christmas Floral Workshop, or learn alongside local artist Yolanda Kog how to truly Light up your Winter Wonderland. Participants will create their own starry-night in watercolour, then create a 3D scenery by using a paper-cutting technique. This will be inserted into a photo frame and then finally add actual LED lights piece turning it into a unique night lamp. Wow!  You can learn about all the details and schedules here.
