The gaming tender committee will hold a press conference on Saturday at 11am, the Government Information Bureau indicated. The information provided does not specify what will be addressed in the presser, however the tender has entered its final stages and authorities are expected to announce the provisional award of the new casino concessions very soon. Industry sources are expecting the provisional list of successful bidders to be unveiled in the press conference.
Seven companies are bidding for the up to six new concessions to be issued with a maximum tenure of 10 years.
In addition to the incumbent six operators – Galaxy Casino Company Limited; SJM Resorts, Limited; Venetian Macau Limited; Wynn Resorts (Macau) Limited; Melco Resorts (Macau) Limited; and MGM Grand Paradise Limited; – Genting Malaysia-linked GMM Limited is also bidding for a casino concession.
The tenderers submitted their final proposals on Monday following weeks of back-and-forth discussions.
TDM Radio Macau reported that a final meeting between the tender committee and the bidding companies was held on Tuesday.
The gaming tender is in its final stages, as the government is set to announce which companies will be awarded a provisional casino concession.
The provisional granting of the concessions will be carried out through an executive order issued by the Chief Executive.
The current three concessions and three subconcessions expire on December 31. The new concessions are expected to take effect on January 1, 2023.
