Territory sees 2.75pct inflation rate in 2019

Macau registered an inflation rate below 3% in 2019, a decrease from the previous year, official data released on Wednesday said.

According to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), the inflation rate was 2.75% last year, down from 3.01% in 2018.

Inflation in 2019 was sustained by rising rents and rising prices for meals purchased outside the home, fresh pork and gasoline, the DSEC said.

Among goods and services, education (+5.65%), transport (+4.86%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.82%) and health (+3.50%) recorded the largest increases.
