Three gaming projects in Cotai from three different operators are still waiting for the government’s formal land grant approval, according to the Secretary for Transport and Public Works Lau Si Io. The projects have 200,000 square meters, 70,000 square meters, and 70,000 square meters, respectively. The information was disclosed yesterday, at a closed door meeting with the follow-up committee for Land and Public Concession Affairs at the Legislative Assembly. The president of the committee, lawmaker Kwan Tsui Hang told reporters that Mr Lau refused to name the three gaming operators waiting for land, but added that some of the projects have already started. Meanwhile, the secretary told the committee that the revision of the law that governs land leases (known as “Land Law”) will “hopefully” be sent to the Legislative Assembly in 2012.
