Tourist prices down 4.71 pct in 2021

The average tourist price index (TPI) for 2021 was 4.71 per cent lower than in 2020, figures from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicate.

The decrease was due to lower hotel room rates and airfares, as accommodation prices went down by 29 per cent.

On the other hand, higher charges for restaurant services –4.6 per cent higher  – partially offset the drop.

TPI reflects the price change of goods and services purchased by visitors, DSEC noted.
