VIP Baccarat revenues almost double

Macau’s VIP baccarat revenues in the second quarter of 2010 rose 98.7 percent from a year earlier to a record MOP32.37 billion. VIP baccarat accounted for 72.1 percent of all casinos´ gross gaming revenue, according to figures released last Friday (July 17) by the Gaming Inspection and Co-ordination Bureau. However, things are set to slow down later this year according to several analysts. "We expect a slowdown in the fourth quarter as the impact from falling Chinese property prices typically hits Macau with a two-quarter lag," Deutsche Bank gaming analyst Karen Tang wrote this month in a research note. Revenue from slot machines rose 32.3 percent to MOP2.03 billion.
