Visitor arrivals below 19,000 on Golden Week’s Day 4

Tourist arrivals remain just over one tenth of last year’s National Day Golden Week. A total of total of 77,092 visitors crossed the city’s border checkpoints between the 1st and the 4th of October, accounting for an 87.4 per cent year-on-year plunge, figures released by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) show.

The fourth day of the Golden Week saw 18,747 tourists entering the SAR, 87.8 per cent less than a year ago. October 2 has so far been the best day with over 22,000 visitor arrivals.

The the Macau Hoteliers and Innkeepers Association said earlier that the hotel occupancy rate was expected to rise to 30-40 percent during the National Day Golden Week, which is the the first Golden Week since the COVID-19 outbreak.
