Visitor arrivals to Macau up 12.8 pct y-on-y during Middle-Autumn Festival

The Public Security Police Force (CPSP) has announced that the number of visitor arrivals during the three-day Middle-Autumn Festival extended weekend between September 13 and 15 had increased 12.8 percent to some 341,000 people, when compared to last year’s holiday period.

Meanwhile, the number of entries in and exits from the city’s border checkpoints have also increased by 3.4 percent to more than 1.58 million people.

The data provided by the police was compared to last year’s Middle-Autumn Festival extended weekend holiday period (September 22 and 24, 2018).

The number of inbound and outbound Mainland China residents was said to have decreased slightly by almost 1 percent, while the number of Hong Kong residents entering and exiting the Macau SAR went up by 41 percent.

The number of crossings through the Macau International Airport increased by 16.7 percent year-on-year, while crossings through the Outer Harbour and Taipa ferry terminals dropped by 45.1 percent and 30.1 percent, respectively.

A total of 110,000 entries and exits were recorded at the local checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, which had not yet opened to traffic at the time of last year’s harvest festival.
