The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) has replaced storm signal number 10 with the number 8 signal at 7:30am and its expects to issue number three signal at 11:30am, as winds a are weakening.
This comes as tropical storm Higos is moving away from Macau. As of 9am it was located some 70 km west northwest of the city.
SMG says there will still be frequent showers and thunderstorms and the red storm storm surge warning remains in effect. It is expected that the water level will start to gradually decrease.
