Wynn Macau hands MOP80 mln donation to UM Development Foundation

Gaming operator Wynn Macau has announced a donation of MOP80 million (US$9.8 million) to the University of Macau Development Foundation to support different initiatives and the Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management.

Established as an administrative public utility person in 2009, the University of Macau Development Foundation aims at supporting and facilitating the University of Macau to attain its academic and educational goals.

Meanwhile, the APAEM aims to promote interdisciplinary research that is significant and relevant to the socio-economic development of Macau and the Greater Bay Area, with a focus on three areas, financial innovation, smart tourism and Asian economics.

‘Over the years, Wynn has been committed to supporting the development of the University of Macau through the UMDF in the areas of teaching, research, social services and talent cultivation,’ the operator said in a statement.

‘Our efforts include providing support for the academic and research initiatives of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management, continuously pushing for
Macau’s local teaching and research work, as well as strengthening the cultivation and development of local talent and professionals.

A cheque donation ceremony took place at Wynn Palace on September 19, with the presence of Linda Chen, President and Executive Director of Wynn Macau and Vice Chairman and Executive Director, Frederic Luvisutto, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, who presented a cheque received by Dr. Peter Lam Kam Seng, University Council Chair and the UM Rector Prof. Yonghua Song.
