The neighbouring Zhuhai City reported one new locally transmitted COVID-19 case and six asymptomatic cases on Friday, local authorities announced at a press briefing.
All new cases are confirmed to be the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
To better contain the spread of COVID-19, Zhuhai has launched citywide nucleic acid testing and stipulated that negative results of nucleic acid tests taken within 24 hours are required to leave the city.
