China names Ding Tian new Forum Macau deputy head

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has appointed Ding Tian as the new Deputy Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macau.
According to the announcement of the organ, the new deputy head previously served the Department of Foreign Assistance of the Chinese Ministry.
It was stated that, being fluent in Portuguese, the new Deputy Secretary-General has deep knowledge of Portuguese-speaking countries, given the fact that he has been posted in Cape Verde, Brazil and East Timor.
Forum Macau is led by one Secretary-General and three Deputy Secretaries-General, that are respectively appointed by China, Portuguese-speaking countries and the MSAR government.
Earlier this month, former Deputy Secretary-General of the organ representing the MSAR government, Echo Chan Keng Hong, returned to the position after her resignation in November 2015.
