The Judiciary Police has made the biggest loan-sharking gang bust since the handover, it was announced yesterday. According to the Macau Post Daily, a total of 13 suspects have been taken into custody. The police said the gang had been operating in local casinos since 2000. A number of IOU letters – non-negotiable debt instruments addressed to a creditor, dated, and signed by the borrower – were found, involving about HK$390 million (US$50 million) and RMB120 million (MOP92.6 million).
