Sands China expects good fortune during CNY

In 2011, Sands China Ltd. saw its lowest growth rate in gaming revenue in two years, but the company’s chief executive officer Edward Tracy says he is optimistic about the Lunar New Year holidays, that start on January 23. Mr Tracy was quoted by English-language newspaper Macau Post Daily as saying that his forecast for the holidays will be “sunny and warm.” But he didn’t go into more details about the predictions. Last year, gaming revenues slowed down to 42 percent, compared with an almost 58 percent growth in 2010. Meanwhile, SJM Holdings Ltd. managing director Angela Leong On Kei said she expects 2012 to be a good year for the gaming operator. Ms Leong reiterated that the government had approved a lot of land for SJM on Cotai, but authorities continue to stress that the application is still being assessed.
