Foreign exchange reserves grow 0.3 pct in August

Macau’s foreign exchange reserves grew by 0.3 percent to MOP145 billion (about US$18.13 billion) last month, the Monetary Authority of Macau estimates. The sum was the equivalent of 13 times the currency in circulation one month earlier. The authority says the trade-weighted effective exchange rate index of the pataca, a gauge of the value of the currency against the currencies of Macau’s main trading partners, rose by 0.96 point last month to 105.71.
