Singapore casino tussle for VIPs turns spiteful

The gloves are off as Singapore’s two casinos slug it out over a pool of high-rolling players depleted by China’s crackdown on corruption and economic slowdown, Reuters reports. The news agency quotes casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp’s boss, Sheldon Adelson, as saying his company’s rival in Singapore, Genting Singapore PLC, relies on over-generous incentives and credit to entice high rollers. Mr Adelson accused Genting Singapore of having to buy the business it gets. A Genting Singapore spokeswoman declined to comment when asked to by Reuters. About half of the VIP gaming business in Singapore comes from China.
