Film festival | Jury starts evaluating films in competition – IFFAM

Macau (MNA) – Members of the jury praised film selections for the 2nd International Film Festival Awards of Macao during a press conference held on Friday.

The president of the jury, French director Laurent Cantet, highlighted the quality of the selection and lauded the wide range of topics tackled together with the international profile of the event.

Actress and director Joan Chen, a member of the jury, too, remarked upon the diverse selection included in the Festival. She wanted to remind that the participation of ‘The Last Emperor,’ a film in which she starred, in the selection was a movie that built bridges between the Occident and Orient.

The jury is completed by Jessica Hausner, Austrian director, screenwriter and producer; Singaporean director Chen Ziqian; and Lawrence Osborne, screenwriter and novelist.

During the morning session, the jury watched four movies: Three Peaks (Italy, Germany), The Wrath of Silence (China), Hunting Season (Argentina, United States, France, Germany and Qatar), and The Hungry (United Kingdom, India).

The other movies in competition are Beast (UK), The Cakemaker (Israel, Germany), Custody (France), Foxtrot (Israel, Germany, France and Switzerland), Borg McEnroe (Sweden), and My Pure Land (UK).
