Macau | Childbirth Delivery Service Fee for non-resident parents under poverty line increases threefold instead of ninefold

Macau (MNA) – Childbirth delivery service fees at the public hospital Conde de São Januário (CHCSJ) for non-resident workers whose income is less than the officially approved subsistence level – MOP4,050 – will increase threefold instead of ninefold, the Health Bureau revealed during a press conference on Monday.

According to the proposal, the service fee for natural childbirth for eligible non-resident workers (blue card holders) who are living under the poverty line would be increased from the current MOP975 to MOP2,925.

The cost of a caesarean section (C-section) for eligible non-local workers is set at MOP5,850 from the current MOP1,950.

However, the new fare reduction only applies to non-resident workers who hold a valid Economic Situation Attestation issued by the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS).

IAS states that all non-local workers can apply for the Economic Situation Attestation as long as their salary income are below the minimum subsistence index of MOP4,050.

Non-resident pregnant women who opt to apply for the attestation issued by IAS must present the following documents: a valid maternity certificate, blue card, passport, income statement, income record of the past six months, and proof of address.

For tourists, the service fees of both natural childbirth and caesarean section will entail a ninefold increase – as previously announced – over the current prices, from MOP 1,950 to MOP 17,550 for natural childbirth and from MOP 3,900 to MOP 35,100 for a C-section.
