Macau | Municipal market at Seac Pai Van operational by year-end – IACM head

Macau (MNA) – The statements were made during today’s policy address debate with the Secretary for Administration and Justice at the Legislative Assembly (AL).

The market is included in the Seac Pai Van municipal building project, which was announced after residents at the public housing project filled complains on the lack of social facilities in the area.

The municipal building has six floors and an area of around 6,900 square meters, with the project including a stop for bus transfer services, public car park, a community activities centre and the municipal market, .

The building construction was awarded in 2014 for MOP15.82 million to a consortium composed by China Road and Bridge Corporation / Coneer Engenharia e Adminstração, Limitada.

The building was concluded in May of this year according to the Infrastructure Development Office (GDI) but only the bus transfer service area is currently operational.

The use of stands for the municipal market and the space management will be made through a public tender, a decision that led some resident associations to complain a monopoly of the market commercial use could be created.

“We will evaluate the municipal building reception from the local population and use it as pilot for future social facilities to be developed in public housing projects,” Secretary for Administration and Justice Sonia Chan Hoi Fan, added.

The Seac Pai Van Public Housing Estate includes 9,015 housing units, divided into three economic housing buildings and one social housing building.
