16,000 primary students resumed classes on Monday

About 16,000 primary four to primary six students from 59 local schools resumed classes on Monday after a suspension of almost four months due to the pandemic, the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) indicated.

Several health measures were implemented for the class restart, with schools disinfected, and health declarations and body temperature checks needed before entering schools, with DSEJ.

Cross-border students and teachers from Zhuhai were also required to take nucleic acid tests before being allowed to enter Macau.

Current entry regulations demand that nucleic acid test results are only considered 24 hours after sampling and valid for seven days, so a specific time and place in designated Zhuhai hospitals should be scheduled by parents for Saturday.

Several parents also accompanied students on the first day of classes.

Students from primary one to primary three will resume classes on June 1, with local secondary education students having already returned to classes.
