Once a displaced refugee, Alan Ghumim now owns the 1st Syrian restaurant in Lisbon thanks to the local people’s help. So when the coronavirus struck, he decided to repay the kindness of the Portuguese people by giving free meals to frontline doctors and nurses. “At least what we can do is food,” says Ghumim.
