Angola: Government plans to invest US$15 billion in electricity, water by 2020

Luanda – The Angolan minister for Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, said these projects had been defined under Angola’s National Development Plan and would be implemented in both rural and urban areas.

The government’s aim is to set up electricity connections for 14 million inhabitants, 40% of the Angolan population, and to increase from 73 to 116 the number of municipalities with supply to water and electricity.

Baptista Borges said water supply would reach 85% of the urban population and 80% of the rural population by 2020.
