Beijing Imperial Palace Hotel applies for redevelopment

Macau (MNA) – The owner of the Beijing Imperial Palace Hotel in has Taipa applied for conditional urban planning to the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT) in order to redevelop the hotel facilities.

The Beijing Imperial Palace Hotel, previously known as the New Century Hotel, has been sealed up by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) since 2016.

In recent years, the hotel faced a long-term ownership dispute between Amax International Holdings and Victory Success – a company owned by the Suncity Group Holdings Limited CEO Alvin Chau Cheok Wa.

According to the proposed planning by the DSSOPT, the land plot of the hotel occupies some 14,900 square metres.

Two buildings are supposed to be built at the land plot, while the maximum height of buildings limit is set between 70 metres to 140 metres.

Meanwhile, on the ground floor of the facade facing the Rotunda Dr. Carlos A. Correa Paes D’Assumpção and Avenida Padre Tomás Pereira must move backwards to at least 2 metres from the presidential walkway.

The DSSOPT will collect opinions about the draft planning from the public until July 18 and will submit the draft to the Urban Planning Committee for approval.

In February, Amax International announced it offloaded a stake worth up to 24.8 per cent in its Greek Mythology casino in the property for HK$38,000 to Fu Po International Limited.
