Cabo Verde: Country’s pavilion at Qatar Expo gets commendation

Cabo Verde’s pavilion at Expo 2023 in Doha, Qatar, has received a commendation for its theme, linked to agriculture and the sea, in the “medium pavilions” category of the international exhibition, the archipelago’s government announced on Thursday.

Cabo Verde was present at Expo 2023 with the theme “Green is the Way, Blue is the Destination”, with the aim of promoting the country in Qatar and the Middle East as a destination for investment and tourism.

The theme reflects “identity and aspirations”, celebrating “the country’s rich agricultural heritage, emphasising the importance of the land in shaping its history and culture”, reads the statement.

Agriculture in Cabo Verde is a constant challenge given the archipelago’s arid climate and rugged landscapes.

At the same time, the Cabo Verdean pavilion “emphasises the deep connection to the ocean, symbolising the use of Cabo Verde’s vast maritime territory as an engine for economic diversification and as a key element for more effective and beneficial integration into the region and the world”.

Strategic sectors such as tourism, the blue economy, renewable energies, transport and the digital economy are also highlighted.

Expo Qatar 2023, whose theme is “Green Desert, Better Environment”, has been running since 2 October 2023 and ends today.
