China-Central Asia Beidou navigation forum opens in NW China

A global forum on China-Central Asia cooperation concerning China’s BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) was held on Friday in northwest China’s Gansu Province.

Representatives from China and Central Asian countries including Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as well as international organizations, attended the forum online or offline.

A themed exhibition on the BDS is also being held during the event, with relevant products and application scenarios including those in the transportation, logistics, tourism, agriculture and animal husbandry sectors on display.

“The completion of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan highway, the completion and operations of the China-Kazakhstan crude oil pipelines, and the regular and efficient operations of the China-Europe freight trains have offered broad prospects for the innovative application of the BDS,” said Ran Chengqi, director of the China satellite navigation system management office.

First held in 2019, the forum provides a communication and cooperation platform for China and Central Asian countries in the field of satellite navigation.
