Chinese President Xi Jinping three-day visit schedule summary

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrives in Macau today to preside over the 20th anniversary of the handover of the city’s administration and to the swearing-in cerimony of the new government headed by Ho Iat Seng.

Although Xi’s schedule for the visit has not been completely divulged to the media, a partial program was released by authorities, with a meeting with the current Chief Executive, Fernando Chui Sai On scheduled for today.

Then on Thursday the Chinese leader will receive the the main top officials of the Macau SAR government and individuals from various sectors of society, with an official dinner and cultural meeting scheduled for the evening of that day

On Friday morning, the President will attend the Macau SAR Government’s 20th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony and the inauguration of the 5th Government of Macau, led by the former Legislative Assembly President Ho Iat Seng.

Te will then will meet with the new government officials, members of the AL, of the the judiciary, leaving Macau on the same day.

This is the Chinese President’s third visit to Macau, with the top head of government having visited the city in 2009, as Vice President, and in 2014 already as President for the inauguration of Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On two government terms.

About 650 members Chinese, local and international members of the media have registered to cover the visit
