City authorities re-open public barbecue areas for residents and non-residents

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has announced that it will re-open the barbecue areas of Hac Sá Beach Park, Taipa Grande Natural Park and Hac Sá Reservoir Natural Park from October 23 for bookings by residents and non-resident workers alike.

Local city authorities had previously only re-opened the barbecue area of Hac Sá Beach Park, with booking only available for local residents, causing some backlash due to the perceived exclusion of ‘blue card’ workers.

The IAM now stated the decision had only been a ‘first phase’ of the barbecue areas re-opening, set to assess the number of interested users.

All interested users can make advance bookings for using the above-mentioned barbecue areas, 78 sets of barbecue pits in total, through the ‘IAM Activity Application System’ starting from today.

Each day two sessions will be available for applications for bookings, from 11:30am to 5:30pm and from 6:00pm to 11:59 pm respectively.

The maximum number of users per barbecue pit will be adjusted from four to eight.

Users can also choose their own barbecue pits, on a first come, first served basis.

In accordance with the disease prevention guidelines issued by the Health Bureau, users of the barbecue areas are urged to strictly follow the relevant requirements, including showing their Macau Health Code valid for the day upon entry, having their body temperature measured and wearing a face mask, as well as keep a social distance of at least one metre.
