GovPay e-payment platform already available in 23 public departments

The Macau government online and offline payment platform GovPay is currently available in about 23 public administration departments, allowing residents to pay multiple government fees and taxes via credit or debit card and QR code.

The platform was initially launched by the Financial Services Bureau in the third quarter of 2019, with its offline applications consisting of using payment smart terminals that support and implement the various forms of payments and bar code (QR code) technology.

Payments through the system can be made via Union Pay credit card and debit card issued by Macau SAR banks; VISA and MasterCard credit card and debit card issued by the Bank of China Macau branch; Union Pass Quick Pass cards and app; the Bank of China BOC Pay app; and the Tai Fung Pay app by Tai Fung Bank.

Some of the public departments currently using the system include the DSF, Transport Bureau, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and the Public Security Police Force (CPSP), with other public services to gradually launch the payment methods mentioned.

Residents can also access the GovPay online payment platform through the website of public services or through its mobile application, in order to proceed with the payment of tax fees.

In the first online phase, BOC Pay will be is used as a means of payment on this online payment platform.

In the second phase, Union Pay, VISA and MasterCard credit and debit cards issued by international banks, the Union Pay Quick Pass card, the Union Pay Quick Pass application and the application will be accepted as payment methods.

Tai Fung Pay as well as the payment methods issued by other banks to be introduced later.
