Gov’t starts clearing works in reclaimed 6,480 sqm land in NAPE

The Macau government today (Wednesday) started clearing works in a reclaimed 6,480 square meters land plot near Ascott Hotel in NAPE.

The land plot in question, known as Lot 12(A2/g), was granted to company Fomento Predial Golden Bowl Limitada in 1992 for building a three-storey annexe plus two 13-storey towers for commercial, residential and car parking use.

The concession had been granted in 1992, with Chief Executive, Fernando Chui Sai On declaring the concession invalid in 2016 under the current Land Law.

Following several appeals by the company to the local courts only this year in May did the Court of Final Appeal (TUI) sustained the CE decision and authorities were able to start clearing works in the abandoned land near the intersection between Rua Cidade de Braga and Alameda Dr. Carlos D’Assumpção.

‘The land is currently fenced with wooden siding. The Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT) sent an eviction notice to the interested parties for eviction and reversal of the land within the stipulated period. After the period had elapsed without the voluntary eviction or reversal of the land, the Government proceeded today with an interdepartmental action to evict the land in order to proceed with the respective eviction and reorganization,’ local authorities stated.
