Gov’t to launch campaign for recycling of lighting equipment, glass and plastic bottles

Macau (MNA) – The Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) announced on Wednesday that it will launch a series of events to promote the reduction of waste and the recycling of lighting equipment; glass and plastic bottles; and furniture.

The DSPA is also to cooperate with commercial chambers and groups next month in order to recycle light equipment.

Facilities to compress glass bottles will be set up in 91 locations in shops and hotels this month, with the DSPA expecting the recycling weight could increase two fold to 1,200 tones.

In a third phase, some 10 machines for recycling plastic bottles will also be set.

Meanwhile, the DSPA will renew furniture gathered from the construction materials waste landfill and then donate it to social institutions, groups or individuals.

Citizens will also be able to accumulate points for not using plastic utensils and cups in shops, and exchange those points for environmental friendly tableware.
