Grand Prix: Kostamo’s spine surgery completed successfully

The Macau Grand Prix Organising Committee has informed that Finnish rider, Erno Kostamo, one of the six drivers involved in a major crash yesterday during the last GP Motorcycle Cup final race, has undergone successful spine surgery.

Kostamo – together with risers Philip Crowe and Dan Kruger – had been taken to the Conde S. Januario Hospital after the race was abandoned. All were conscious, and only the Finnish rider required an operation.

‘The operation went well and the rider is already recovering in the orthopedics wing of the hospital,’ according to the organisation statement.

Crowe and Kruger have already been discharged from the hospital.

After the final race of the 2019 Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix was cancelled, British rider Michael Rutter ended up being declared the winner.
