Kou Hoi In elected as new Legislative Assembly President

Macau (MNA) – Legislator Kou Hoi In was elected on Wednesday by the Legislative Assembly (AL) to be its new President, with 29 legislators voting for him, two abstaining from voting and one voting for legislator Jose Pereira Coutinho.

As an indirect-elected legislator from the industrial, commercial and financial sector, Kou Hoi In has acted as a legislator since 1991 and is currently also a delegate at the Chinese National People’s Congress and the President of the Macau Chamber of Commerce.

The former AL president, Ho Iat Seng, has resigned from his position on July 5 to run for the Chief Executive (CE) position, with the AL having to hold a by-election to replace the vacant seat within 15 days.
