Latest jobless rate at 2.2 pct, 2.8 pct for locals

The latest jobless rate for Macau has remained at 2.2 per cent, with the figure standing at 2.8 per cent for locals.

According to the Statistics and Census Service, the underemployment rate is now at 1.3 per cent, down by 0.2 percentage points previously.

Official records show that the city’s labour force is now made up of about 379,000 members living in Macau – or a participation rate of 67.7 per cent.

The number of workers, with those living outside the city taken into account, will go up to 481,100 in total.

At least 8,200 are looking for work, down by 200 compared to the last compilation of figures, with those seeking their first job accounting for 6.4 per cent of the unemployed.

As for underemployment, the figure stands at 4,900.
