Local hotel room inventory to increase by more than 7,000 rooms

There were 15 hotels under construction in Macau during the second quarter of this year, with the new projects to add 7,040 new rooms and 4,756 parking spaces for light vehicles and motorbikes, according to data published by the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT).

Some 23 hotel projects were also under planning during that period, representing some 2.376 new rooms and 603 parking spaces.

Some of these projects would include Galaxy Entertainment Group’s Phase 3 of its Galaxy Macau casino resort in Cotai, which will add 1,500 hotel rooms, and the new hotel project being developed by an entity linked to Genting Hong Kong Ltd. near Nam Vam Lake.

As of June of this year, there were 33,900 hotel rooms available in Macau, less 12.4 per cent than the same month last year, in 108 hotel establishments.
