Macau casino magnates placed on Forbes list of wealthy figures

Galaxy Entertainment Group’s chairman, Lui Che Woo, has been ranked among the top 10 wealthiest tycoons on the 2024 Forbes list of Hong Kong’s 50 Richest.

According to Forbes Asia, the combined wealth of the 50 tycoons plunged to US$296 billion (MOP2.38 trillion) from US$324 billion last year.

“Hong Kong’s economy grew an estimated 3.2 per cent in 2023, buoyed by an uptick in tourist arrivals and consumption,” Forbes Asia said. “However, with a sluggish IPO market and a stagnant property sector, the post-pandemic recovery has been slower than expected.”

As of Wednesday, Lui Che Woo was worth US$12.4 billion, making him the 153rd richest person in the world.


Pansy Ho , the chairwoman of Shun Tak Holdings and also the chair and executive director of MGM China, has claimed the 22nd place with a fortune of US$3.9 billion, as of Wednesday.

She ranks 779th globally.

Another Macau-associated figure, Angela Leong, executive director of SJM Holdings, earned the 33rd spot, having amassed as much as US$2.4 billion.

Topping the league table is Li Ka-shing, whose net worth slipped to US$37 billion from US$39 billion previously despite retaining the top spot.
