Macau | Philippines IR complementing Macau offer – Industry expert

Macau (MNA) – Macau and Philippines are “complementary markets,” Angel Sueiro, Head of Project Management Team of Gaming and Hospitality of LapuLapu Leisure in the Philippines said to MNA.

Mr. Sueiro highlighted the solid situation of Macau integrated resorts (IR) offer, but he said that Philippines has “some competitive advantages it needs to exploit,” as providing beach-vacation style aside from its gaming assets in order to catch a portion of the market linked to Macau.

He said that most part of revenue in the property he is working for depends on Chinese tourists. Therefore, a meaningful part of the decisions adopted by the company are a reaction to adapt to Chinese costumers needs.

Mr. Sueiro added that technology is playing an important role in such matter, as it is helping to break language barriers that made difficult reaching Chinese tourists.

Mr. Suiero also said that different regulatory development in countries in South East Asia region is the main challenge the industry may face in its expansion. “In the case of Philippines we are lucky as legislation is very stable … which allows to undertake important investment with certain security,” he added.
