Manulife posts MOP26.6 mln loss

Manulife (International) Ltd Macau branch registered a loss of 26.6 million patacas in 2013. According to the company’s annual report released yesterday, premiums amounted to a total of 199.1 million patacas last year. In addition, the number of insurance agents increased by 22 percent in 2013 over that of a year earlier. ‘This means our presence in the Macau market increased,’ the company added in its annual report. ‘Quality products need to be promoted by insurance agents, and as such, last year we carried out several recruitments and hired people with talent to join our team,’ the annual report reads. Manulife (International) Ltd provides individual and group insurance products and services. The company offers life and health insurance, life protection and investment, critical illness protection, medical care, accident and disability protection, senior care and mortgage protection products. The Canadian company was founded in 1984 and is primarily based in Hong Kong. Aside from branches in the neighbouring region, Manulife (International) Ltd has branches in Macau, mainland China, Japan and the United States.
