Pansy Ho, Miriam Adelson and Lui Che Woo in Forbes 2021 Top 1,000

Pansy Ho Chiu-king, Miriam Adelson and Lui Che Woo were the only Macau-linked representatives within the top 1,000 Forbes 2021 billionaire list.

The publication list covering 2021 now encompasses 2,755 people who are billionaires, 660 more than the prior year, with a record-high number of new names to make the cut — 493, many of whom come from China and Hong Kong.

Former Amazon CEO and current executive chairman Jeff Bezos is once again the richest man in the world with a net worth of US$177 billion.

The net worth of all Macau representatives was evaluated according to information taken as of May, 2021

Included for the first time in the lits, Miriam Adelson the widow of Sheldon Adelson, the former CEO and chairman of casino company Las Vegas Sands, who died at 87 in January 2021, now owns more than half of the gambling empire, which has casinos in Singapore and Macau and ranked 36th with an evaluated net worth of US$38.2 billion.

Miriam’s real-time net worth placed her in 42nd with US$31.3 billion.

Meanwhile, with interests in two Macau concessionaires plus multiple other real estate and hospitality holdings, Pansy Ho ranked 665th in the Forbes list after her calculated net worth went from a US$3.4 billion valuation in 2020 to US$4.3 billion in 2021.

Pansy Ho chairs Shun Tak Holdings, a property developer in Hong Kong and Macau that runs ferries between them and operates hotels, founded by her father, gaming tycoon Stanley Ho, who died in May 2020.

Ho also has interests both in STDM and MGM China and is a Director in STDM and a co-chair and managing director in MGM China.

In June 2021, less than a week after former CEO Grant Bowie stepped down, MGM China’s Co-Chairperson and Executive Director Pansy Ho announced she would be taking on the new role of Co-Chairperson and Managing Director.

She continues to hold a 22.49 per cent stake in MGM China but has gradually reduced her MGM Resorts International from 3.13 per cent to 0.82 per cent.

Ho’s real-time worth as of today places her in 927th.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of gaming operator Galaxy Entertainment Group and property developer K. Wah International Holdings, both listed in Hong Kong, Lui Che Woo ranked 93rd with a 2021 net worth of US$19.4 billion, a position downgraded to 154th when considering the real-time US$12.9 billion.

The wealth of casino moguls Lui Che Woo, Pansy Ho, Angela Leong and Pansy’s sibling, Lawrence Ho, shrank amid travel restrictions and Beijing’s crackdown on cross-border gambling.
