Police detain woman who attempted to deliver cannabis to husband in quarantine hotel

Police authorities have arrested a local woman who attempted to deliver Cannabis to her husband while he was under medical observation.

On June 23 the Judiciary Police (PJ) was notified that a woman from Macau planned to hide drugs in a suitcase to be delivered to her husband, who was placed under quarantine in a Coloane medical observation hotel.

Police immediately intercepted a 32-year-old resident woman and found suspected drugs in her handbag. Officers later also found a tote bag with suspected drugs and smoking tools in another vehicle, which was parked by the woman in the parking lot of her residence.

After inspection, it was confirmed that her handbag contained about 9.4 grams of cannabis and four cannabis oils containing ‘tetrahydrocannabinol’, worth about MOP20,000 (US$2,548) and other items still in need of further testing.

After a negative drug test, police authorities transferred the female suspect to the Public Prosecutions Office for further investigation into an “illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances” crime and continued to trace the source of the drugs and the persons involved in the case.
