Policy Research Bureau claims to have not received CCAC investigation request

Macau (MNA) – The deputy director of the Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau (DSEPDR), Ung Hoi Ian, claimed on Tuesday that the bureau had not received any investigation request from the CCAC while emphasising the bureau was not impacted by allegations directed to its director.

The director of the DSEPDR, Mi Jian, was previously accused of nepotism and several misconducts in the bureau by a complaint letter signed by ‘a group of DSEPDR personnel’, with the CCAC having confirmed it received the complaints.

Mr. Mi has not been present in public events since the allegations were revealed, although the bureau has denied all the allegations in a press release.

The DSEPDR had organised a symposium on the “One Belt, One Road” policy and the development of Macau at Macau Tower, with the participation of the Chief Executive (CE) Fernando Chui Sai On and the Vice-chairman of the National Political Consultative Conference, Edmund Ho Hau-wah Va had attended.

However, Mr. Mi was absent from the event organised by his own Bureau.

The DSEPDR deputy director explained to the media today that the absence of the director was due to other business related to the Greater Bay Area (GBA) in Macau while emphasizing that all the DSEPDR staff are working “unitedly”.
