Resident returning from the US classified as new Covid asymptomatic case

A Macau resident that returned to the SAR from the United States of America on Saturday (February 5) via Singapore has been classified as a ‘weak positive’ case and classified as an imported asymptomatic infection.

This 55-year-old resident administered three doses of BioNTech and Pfizer-BioNTech mRNA Vaccine in June and July 2021 and January 2022 in the US.

On January 31, February 1 and 2 she performed three nucleic acid tests in California with results all negative.

On February 3 she took flight No. SQ34 from USA to Singapore (seat No. 41G), and yesterday (5 February), travelled by plane No. TR904 from Singapore to Macau (seat No. No. 14F).

Upon entering Macau and the day after entry, she was subjected to a nucleic acid test, the result of which was weakly positive, and was referred to the Public Health Clinical Center.

At this time, this woman has no symptoms of COVID-19 and was classified as an imported case of asymptomatic infection, and therefore not included in the statistics of confirmed cases in Macau.
