Residents who have been in certain Zhuhai areas to be tested

Health Bureau Director Alvis Lo admitted today (Monday) that following an asymptomatic Covid-19 case reported in Zhuhai, local authorities will require residents who have been in certain areas of the neighbouring mainland city to be tested, TDM Radio reported.

Zhuhai today (Monday) reported an asymptomatic case related to the recent Covid-19 resurgence in Nanjing, East China’s Jiangsu Province, prompting officials to initiate closed management in some areas and start a citywide nucleic acid testing until the end of Tuesday.

The imposed lockdowns target some areas Xiangzhou district in Zhuhai, but the Gonbei border crossing and Lotus Bridge crossing with Macau are not affected.

With further details to be disclosed in a future announcement today, Lo revealed that the bureau will take the initiative to contact people who have been in risk areas to take three nucleic acid tests in the next 7 days, one day apart from each test.

According to the Health Bureau director the measures take into consideration the extremely frequent population cross-border movements between Zhuhai and Macau.

Authorities indicated that the man took flight CZ5846 from Nanjing Lukou Airport to Zhuhai last July 19 and then took the airport express bus at 4:40 pm to check-in at the Greenery Hotel (達君悅來酒店) and dined at the Laochuanfang (吉大老川坊) restaurant that night.

He walked to the Everbright International Trade Center to attend a company meeting last Tuesday morning and had dinner with his colleagues at Guizhou Crooked Restaurant (貴州歪菜館聚餐) Restaurant in the evening, after which he returned to the hotel.

After Nanjing announced the outbreak of a local epidemic at Lukou Airport last Tuesday night, the man went to the hospital for examination last Wednesday and was then sent to a hotel for centralized isolation and observation

During this period, he received nucleic acid tests every day, and all of them were negative four times, until Sunday when he tested positive.

Currently, people crossing the border from Guangdong to Macau are required to provide a valid negative nucleic acid test taken in the previous seven days.
