Seventh Covid-19 patient discharged, three remaining

Health authorities revealed today that the 7th local confirmed Covid-19 case has been discharged from hospital care, with only three remaining in isolation.

The patient was a 67-year-old Wuhan woman, who arrived Macau on January 23 and has been hospitalized since January 27

No new cases have been reported in the city for 21 days.

The authorities have repeated in recent days that the territory is “at a crucial moment” in fighting the outbreak and people “should avoid leaving home”.

Casinos, public parks, trails, public services, leisure areas, gym spaces on the street, playgrounds, among others, are being opened gradually.

The Macau Government has not yet set a date for the opening of schools, which have been closed since the beginning of the month.

The Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic has so far caused 2,705 deaths and infected more than 80,000 people in over 30 countries.

In addition to 2,665 deaths in China, where the outbreak began at the end of the year, there are fatalities in Iran, South Korea, Italy, Japan, the Philippines, France and Taiwan.

The World Health Organization has declared the Covid-19 outbreak as an international emergency and has warned of a possible pandemic, after a sudden increase in cases in Italy, South Korea and Iran in recent days.
