Taiwan adds four new COVID-19 cases

Four individuals tested positive for COVID-19 in Taiwan Friday, raising the island’s total infections to 535, the island’s epidemic monitoring agency said.

The four are Indonesian nationals who landed in Taiwan for study on Sept. 30 and took the COVID-19 tests on Oct. 15 when they concluded the quarantine at assigned hotels, according to a statement from the agency.

They have not shown any symptoms as of now, the statement said.

The disease control agency has identified 220 people having contact with them, including passengers on the same flight and their shuttle bus as well as the hotel staff, and will continue to track more.

Among the confirmed cases in Taiwan, seven have died, 491 have recovered, and 37 others remain hospitalized, according to the agency.
