VIP results down 15.6 pct y-on-y in Q2, mass up 18.5 pct

Macau (MNA) – The amount in VIP revenues generated in the second quarter of this year – represented by VIP baccarat – went down 15.6 per cent year-on-year to MOP34.6 billion (US$4.2 billion), according to data released on Tuesday by the Gaming Inspection and Co-ordination Bureau (DICJ).

Meanwhile, casino mass market results increased 18.5 per cent to MOP38.7 billion between April and June.

VIP represented about 48.1 per cent of the total MOP73.3 billion in casino gaming revenue results in the second quarter, with mass taking the remaining 51.9 per cent.

The first half of the year saw the VIP sector generate MOP71.8 billion, a 14.5 per cent year-on-year drop from the same period of last year, and 48 per cent of the total MOP149.5 billion in generated casino revenues for the period.

Meanwhile, revenues generated by the Macau Jockey club dropped 19.2 per cent year-on-year in the second quarter to MOP21 million, while sports betting in football and basketball revenues generated by Macao Slot dropped 36.4 per cent to MOP183 million.
