Zhuhai to carry out citywide testing after asymptomatic Covid-19 case

Zhuhai today (Monday) reported an asymptomatic case related to the recent Covid-19 resurgence in Nanjing, East China’s Jiangsu Province, prompting officials to initiate closed management in some areas and start a citywide nucleic acid testing, the Global Times reported.

The epidemic prevention and control center of the neighbouring mainland city also announced closed management measures in several areas today, with a round of city-wide nucleic acid testing to be completed before midnight on Tuesday.

The person asymptomatically infected with the coronavirus took a flight from Nanjing Lukou International Airport to Zhuhai Airport on July 19, received medical observation at a quarantine hotel starting Wednesday, was nucleic acid-tested positive on Sunday and was diagnosed as an asymptomatic case.

COVID-19 cases related to Nanjing airport outbreak had been found in five provinces: Zhongshan in South China’s Guangdong Province, Mianyang in Southwest China’s Sichuan Province, Hexian county and Wuhu city in East China’s Anhui Province, Suqian in East China’s Jiangsu Province and Shenyang in Northeast China’s Liaoning Province, China Central Television reported on Sunday evening.

Currently, people crossing the border from Guangdong to Macau are required to provide a valid negative nucleic acid test taken in the previous seven days.
