Macau | Catholic Centre design plan approved, will accommodate two-star hotel

Macau (MNA) – The new design plan for the site of the Catholic Centre of the Macau Diocese has been approved on May 9, according to the catholic weekly O Clarim on Friday.

The current building – located at the angle of Rua do Campo and Av. Praia Grande – will be demolished and replaced by facilities that will focus on three main vectors, namely, catholic training, Church-related exhibitions, and hospitality, with a two-star hotel planned with 200 guest rooms to accommodate pilgrims and visitors.

Cited by the paper, the assistant-co-ordinator of the Office for the Reconstruction of the Catholic Centre, Teresa Lo, said that she expects that “preliminary applications for the design draft be presented the sooner possible, in October this year.”

She added, however, that the time for approval will depend on several government departments, and that only after that the “demolition of the existing building will be approved, likely in July 2019.”
