Macau | Chimelong Museum aims for opening after June

Macau (MNA) – Chimelong Museum, a 2,606-square-metre aquarium complex located within Hengqin New Area, is slated to open after June this year, according to Zhuhai authorities.

The project, which is helmed by China Construction Third Bureau First Engineering will plan for 67 ocean engineering basins to house a large range of marine life.

The museum will be part of Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort promises that there will at least nine killer whales housed within the aquarium.

The aquarium complex for killer whales will measure 102 metres long and 32 metres wide and rest on a foundation which is 1 metre deep, with an area of 2,700 square metres.

Aquatic shows can accommodate up to 5,000 spectators.

The project was approved by the Guangdong Province Engineering Construction Standardization Association of Science & Technology.

Hengqin’s push into the tourism industry has the overall aim of providing a complementary experience for visitors, which involve non-gaming elements.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GW Investment Consulting, Matthew Ossolinski, told Macau News Agency (MNA) that Hengqin will become the main entry point to Macau in the future, and when combined with the special administrative region, it could well be on its way to become the “entertainment capital of Asia” which will be linked in the Greater Bay Area’s plan for infrastructure.
