Macau | Hengqin deputy mayor wants Zhuhai high-speed rail and subway connected to Macau’s light rail system – Media

Macau (MNA) – According to Invest Zhuhai, the deputy mayor of Hengqin Town and deputy chief of the Hengqin Planning Bureau of Land and Resources, Hao Jin, said in a group discussion of the 3rd session of the 9th Zhuhai Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) that the high-speed rail and subway of Zhuhai ‘should be built as soon as possible and connected to the Macau light rail system.’

The article quotes Hao Jin saying that Zhuhai has been in need of decent transportation development and suggested that Zhuhai and Macau should ‘join hands to build (an) integrated rail transit.’

Mr. Hao reportedly submitted two proposals to the CPPCC, one of which focused on the development of transportation in Zhuhai, including the introduction of a high speed railway, with a speed of 300 kilometres per hour, and having the railway ‘interchanged with the Macau public bus that connects Zhuhai and Macau to the national high-speed rail network.’

The deputy mayor also mentioned that Zhuhai should jointly apply for the construction of the subway with Macau and that the location will seamlessly connect with Macau’s light rail system.

Meanwhile, before any such planning happens, Mr. Hao said that Zhuhai needs to first ‘review the original track network planning to highlight the core position of Hengqin’, as well as ‘apply for the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) concept to control and design the above-ground and underground spaces’ for important orbital sites in advance.
